Simple Commenter Update 1.0.9: Enhanced Positioning and Workflow Controls

Update 1.0.9: What's New

Version 1.0.9 of Simple Commenter is now available. This release focuses on significant stability enhancements for comment positioning and introduces powerful new features for workflow management and organization.

Enhanced Comment Positioning and Stability

A core improvement in this update is the way comments are placed and how they interact with dynamic page elements.

  • Precise Placement: Comments can now be placed anywhere on a target element. If a comment is added to the left side of an image or a div, it will remain fixed to that specific location. This replaces the previous behavior where comments were automatically anchored to the top-right corner of the element.
  • Dynamic Element Compatibility: Comments now move correctly with their parent elements. This ensures that feedback remains accurately positioned on components like image carousels, sticky headers, and hidden or expanding menus.

Domain Labeling

For improved organization, domains can now be assigned custom labels. This feature allows for better categorization and management of projects, which is especially useful for users handling multiple websites or clients.

Site-Wide Comment View

A new "All Comments" view has been introduced, providing a centralized location to see every comment across an entire website. This feature offers a holistic overview of all feedback, eliminating the need to navigate to individual pages to track discussions.

Default Theme & Localization Settings

Global settings for Theme and Localization have been introduced. Users can now configure a default theme and language that will be applied across projects. This helps maintain brand consistency and streamlines the setup process.

Comment Placement with Visual Indicator

The process of creating a new comment has been refined for greater clarity and convenience. When you click on the page to add a comment, a visual highlight will now mark the exact placement point. This indicator remains visible as you write, providing a constant reference for where your comment will be anchored. To ensure page content is never obscured, the comment input box can now be freely moved around the screen, allowing you to see any information that might be underneath it.

Configurable Comment Resolution Permissions

A new permission setting provides granular control over who can resolve comments. Project administrators can now select one of two options based on their workflow needs:

  • All Users: Any logged-in user can resolve a comment.
  • Admin & Team Members: Only users with Admin or Team Member roles have the permission to resolve comments.

The security and reliability of the magic link login system have been enhanced. An issue that could cause redirect links in login emails to trigger browser security warnings has been resolved. This ensures a smoother and more secure authentication experience for all users.
