Managing Comments

Effectively manage all the feedback you receive through SimpleCommenter.

Comments List

Your comments inbox shows all feedback organized by date, with the newest items at the top.

Comment Information

Each comment displays:

  • Visitor info - Name and email (if provided)
  • Message - The feedback content
  • Page URL - Where the feedback was submitted
  • Timestamp - When it was submitted
  • Screenshot - If the visitor attached one
  • Browser info - Browser and OS details

Statuses

Organize your workflow with statuses:

Changing Status

  • Click the status badge on any comment
  • Select from the dropdown menu
  • Bulk select and change multiple at once

Configuring Available Statuses

You can customize which statuses are available for your project:

  1. Go to Project Settings > Functionalities
  2. Scroll to Status Management
  3. Toggle statuses on or off as needed

Labels

Create custom labels to categorize feedback:

Default Labels

  • 🐛 Bug - Something is broken
  • 💡 Feature - New feature request
  • Question - User needs help
  • 🎨 Design - Visual/UX feedback

Creating Labels

  1. Go to Project Settings > Labels
  2. Click + Add Label
  3. Enter name and choose color
  4. Save

Labels sync with integrations - when you label a comment, it appears in Slack/Trello with the same label.

Replying to Comments

Respond directly to visitors who left feedback:

  1. Open a comment
  2. Click Reply or press r
  3. Write your response
  4. Click Send

The visitor receives your reply via email (if they provided one).

Reply Templates

Create templates for common responses:

  1. Go to Settings > Reply Templates
  2. Add templates for common scenarios
  3. Use them when replying to save time

Screenshots

When visitors attach screenshots:

  • View full size - Click to expand
  • Download - Save to your computer
  • Annotations - See any marks the visitor made

Screenshots are stored securely and only accessible to your team.

File Uploads

Attach files directly to comments and replies to keep all project context in one place.

Uploading Files

  1. Open a comment or start a reply
  2. Click the attachment icon or drag and drop files
  3. Submit your comment or reply

Files are uploaded and stored securely, visible to everyone in the thread.

Supported File Types

Common document, image, and media formats are supported:

  • Images - PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG
  • Documents - PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT
  • Spreadsheets - XLS, XLSX, CSV
  • Media - MP4, MOV, MP3

  • Design feedback - Attach Figma exports, mockups, or design files
  • Bug reporting - Upload error logs, browser screenshots, or video recordings
  • Client collaboration - Share reference documents or media assets directly in the thread

Search & Filter

Find specific feedback quickly:

The search box searches:

  • Comment content
  • Visitor name/email
  • Page URLs

Filters

Combine filters to narrow results:

  • Date range
  • Status
  • Labels
  • Has screenshot
  • Page URL contains

Bulk Actions

Select multiple comments to:

  • Change status
  • Add/remove labels
  • Delete
  • Export

Selecting Comments

  • Click checkbox on individual comments
  • Use Shift+click to select a range
  • Click "Select All" for all visible comments

Export

Export your feedback data:

  1. Apply filters (optional)
  2. Click Export button
  3. Choose format: CSV or JSON
  4. Download file

Exported data includes all comment details and metadata.
