Automatic Issue Creation
Every Comment Becomes a GitHub Issue Instantly
The moment a client leaves feedback on your site, Simple Commenter opens a GitHub issue in the repository you choose. The issue is structured and ready for your team to triage — no copy-pasting, no manual ticket creation, no lost feedback in email threads.
Repository Routing
Send Each Project's Feedback to the Right Repo
Connect multiple domains and map each one to a specific GitHub repository. Client A's feedback flows into their dedicated repo, internal QA notes go to your main product repo, and nothing gets mixed up. Configure labels, assignees, and milestones to match your team's existing workflow.
Rich Technical Context
Give Developers Everything They Need to Reproduce the Bug
Each GitHub issue body includes the exact comment text, a screenshot of what the client saw, the page URL, browser name and version, operating system, and viewport dimensions. Developers can reproduce and fix issues without a single clarifying message — the context is already in the issue.
Two-Way Status Sync
Close Issues in GitHub, Resolve Feedback for Clients
When your developer closes a GitHub issue, the linked Simple Commenter feedback is automatically marked as resolved. Clients and project managers see an up-to-date status board without chasing anyone for updates. Keep your issue tracker and client dashboard in sync with zero extra effort.
How it works
From feedback to GitHub in seconds
Client leaves feedback on your site
Click anywhere to comment with screenshots and technical context
GitHub issue created automatically
A structured issue appears in your repo with full environment details
Developer picks up and works the issue
All the context needed is already there — no back and forth required
Setup
How to set up the GitHub integration
- 1
Connect GitHub
In your Simple Commenter dashboard, go to Project Settings > Integrations > GitHub, click Connect to GitHub, and authorize the connection in the popup.
- 2
Grant repository access
Click Authorize to grant repository access. The integration requests the repo scope so it can create issues in both public and private repositories.
- 3
Choose a routing mode
Pick Simple mode to send all feedback to one repository, or Advanced mode to create routing rules that send feedback to different repositories based on conditions like priority, status, commenter role, or page URL.
- 4
Enable the integration
Use the toggle in the header to turn the integration on. You can disable it at any time to pause syncing without disconnecting or losing your settings.
- 5
Set defaults for new projects
Optionally configure GitHub under Default Settings > Integrations > GitHub to apply to all new projects automatically. Project-level settings always take priority.

Data Sync
What syncs to GitHub
Once connected, feedback flows from Simple Commenter into GitHub as issues, comments, and labels. Here is exactly what syncs.
| In Simple Commenter | In GitHub |
|---|---|
| New feedback is submitted | An issue is created with the message, submitter name and email, date, page URL, status, priority, and a link back to Simple Commenter |
| Feedback includes screenshots or attachments | Screenshots are embedded in the issue body as Markdown images, and other files appear as download links |
| You reply to feedback | A comment is added to the GitHub issue with the reply text and any attachment links |
| Status or priority changes | A comment describes the change and labels are swapped automatically, with the old label removed and the new one added |
| Status is set to Done or Cancelled | The GitHub issue is closed |
| A closed comment moves back to an open status | The GitHub issue is reopened |

“One of my clients said he really loves Simple Commenter! Much easier to use than the other one I tried (MarkUp). Really loves the simplicity and cleanliness of it!”
“I found Simple Commenter from Reddit (b/c of the MarkUp price change). Its simple, easy to use, and has a good UI. Also emailed the developer with a few suggestions for improvement and he not only responded quickly but also implemented the suggestions shortly thereafter. Highly recommend!”
“Simple, intuitive, needs no browser extensions, client specific access link which means client does not need to signup, and no monthly expenses for small website developers. The clients get great UX and I am able to process their feedback with low friction and stress. I have checked a few others but Simple commenter is perfect for my usecase.”
